of ephemeral measure
Artist-led phenological network Multi-sited durational project
2021 - 2023
At the core of ephemeral measure is a set of digital wild-sensing cameras, initially installed at seven and extended to thirteen different outdoor locations across Co. Kildare and Finland at Aalto University - School of Arts, Design and Architecture(in 2023) in collaboration with Open Forest Collective. Among other outcomes, the project to date has established the first phenological network–artist-led or otherwise–in Co. Kildare, and the artist has hosted a number of on-site ‘walkshops’ across the county. Sites under observation include agricultural sites, research bogs, forest plantation, a wooded carpark, a garden, a river edge and a previously monitored Phenological Garden which was studied by Ireland's National Phenology Network as part of the EPA's Climate Change Research Programme (2007-2013).
